The overnight desert camp in Zagora offers a comfortable and authentic Saharan experience. While more modest than the luxury camps in Merzouga, the Zagora camp provides a genuine and memorable desert night under the stars.
Zagora is closer to Marrakech (about 6 hours vs 9 hours for Merzouga), making it ideal for a shorter trip. The sand dunes in Zagora are smaller and less dramatic than Merzouga's towering Erg Chebbi dunes, but the Draa Valley scenery is stunning. Zagora offers a more budget-friendly and time-efficient Sahara experience, while Merzouga provides bigger dunes and a deeper desert immersion.
Our shared group tours to Zagora accommodate a maximum of 15 travelers in a comfortable minibus. For a more personalized experience, we offer private tours for 2-4 people in a 4x4 vehicle, or private group options for larger parties. Private tours can be customized to your pace and interests.
The tour departs from Marrakech between 7:00 AM and 8:00 AM depending on the season and pickup location. We pick you up directly from your hotel or riad in the Marrakech medina or city center. Please be ready at the designated time as the vehicle cannot wait due to the driving schedule.
Pack light! Bring sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat, comfortable clothing, a light jacket or fleece for cool desert nights, comfortable shoes, a small backpack, your phone and camera charger, and any personal medications. A scarf is highly recommended for protecting against desert wind and sun. Large suitcases can be stored in the vehicle during the desert camp stay.
